Jordan Love Injury Update

Jordan Love Injury Update

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Malik Willis will likely start at quarterback in Week 2 if Jordan Love isn’t cleared. In the Packers’ first game of the season on Friday against the Philadelphia Eagles, Love sprained his MCL. No damage to the ACL was found, and the player will be out for three to six weeks. This will allow the former Tennessee Titans quarterback to make his first start with the Packers. LaFleur said after practice on Monday, “If Jordan is not cleared, we’ll start Malik, and Sean [Clifford] will be the backup.” Love wasn’t put on the team’s injury reserve list, so there is hope he will return soon. Love got hurt on one of the last plays of the Packers’ 34-29 loss to the Eagles. After getting hit, his knee looked like it was going to break, and he had to be helped off the field after being treated on the field by training staff. Before he got hurt, Love completed 17 out of 34 passes, gaining 260 yards and throwing two scores and one interception. He didn’t look quite like himself most of the night when it came to accuracy, and in the second half, trainers worked on his leg. Willis is in his third season in the NFL. He was picked in the third round of the NFL Draft out of Liberty in 2022. As a rookie, Tennessee did give him a chance to play. He started three of the eight games he played in. The starts only got one win. Willis has played in eleven games and thrown for 350 yards, no touchdowns, and three picks. As a dual-threat player, he did well on the ground, running 32 times for 144 yards and a score. The Titans decided that Will Levis would be their starting quarterback from now on, so they moved him to the Packers during the off-season.
