Matthew Perry’s Wealth: The Financial Legacy of a Comedy Icon

People magazine reports that Matthew Perry had a net worth of $1,596,914.47 in the bank when he died. This data comes from an inventory and appraisal form that Lisa Ferguson, one of Perry’s guardians, filled out and sent in.

The star, whose estimated net worth was $120 million at the time of his death, gave the rest of his money to a trust he set up in 2009 for $1 million. The Alvy Singer Living Trust was his choice of name, after the character from Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall.” Page Six says that in March, Ferguson and Robin Ruzan were named co-executors of the estate.

The trust lists Mr. Perry’s father, John Perry, his mother, Suzanne Morrison, his half-sibling, Caitlin Morrison, and his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Dunn, as the people who will benefit from his will. He was never married and didn’t have any kids.

Before he died, Matthew Perry only had $1.5 million in his personal bank account. Mr. Perry was honest about his problems with drugs.

On October 28, the star from “17 Again” was discovered dead in his Los Angeles home’s hot tub. He had been to the Riviera Country Club earlier that day to play pickleball.

TMZ says he wasn’t in the hot tub for long before someone found him. At first, it was thought that he drowned, but later, a toxicology report showed that he died from the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects being listed as contributing factors. It was decided that he died by accident.

The police did start looking into Perry’s death earlier this year, though. A report from not long ago said that cops think “multiple people” should be charged with his death.

Perry was honest about the problems he was having with drugs. He wrote in his 2022 autobiography, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” that he had been to 6,000 Alcoholics Anonymous groups, 15 times to rehab, and 65 times to detox. He also said that the process of getting sober cost him almost $9 million.

Perry talked about a near-death experience in 2018 that was caused by a stomach perforation in an interview to promote his book. “The doctors told my family that I had a 2% chance to live,”

Perry said. “An ECMO machine was put on me. This machine breathes for your heart and lungs.” That’s known as a Hail Mary. That is not good for anyone. Since May 2021, he has been sober.

He was buried at the Hollywood Hills’ Forest Lawn cemetery in November. Some of his “Friends” co-stars, like Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, came to the funeral. His parents, sisters, stepfather Keith Morrison, and other friends and family also came.
